Background:
This kIrtana is a special kIrtana, in its way of telling auspicious prosperity to the Lord Sriman Narayana. Here Annamayya considers some of the precious stones for his explanation of the greatness of Lord VEnkaTEswara.
Note:
Only Periya ALwAr (Big devotee), out of 12 ALwars sung such type of "MangalAsAsana pAsurams" (poems towards his prosperity). He is also called as "VishNu chitta"(the one who has lord vishNu in his heart) and is the father of AnDAL.
Meaning:
Pa:
O Hari !May there be auspicious prosperity to you , the armor of our heart (chittajaguruDA). May there be auspicious prosperity to you, who resides in our hearts (as antaryAmi).
Here HE (Lord Narayana ) is both the in dweller and the protector (like armor) of our heart.Ca 1 :
O Hari !May there be auspicious prosperity to you , who has decorated the chest with the young lady who is like a beautiful golden idol. May there be auspicious prosperity to you, who is glowing (chengalinchE) with the colorful and gorgeous silk cloth (peethAmbaram) around HIS waist.
Ca 2 :
O Hari ! May there be auspicious prosperity to you, who gave birth to the pious lady (Ganga) from HIS holy feet whose color is like beautiful precious blue stones. May there be auspicious prosperity to you, who wears the most glowing "kousthubha maNi" (The most precious gemstone emerged from the milky ocean) and who is like the gemstone of the gods (chintAmaNi) for HIS devotees.
Ca 3 :
O SrI VEnkaTEsA ! May there be auspicious prosperity to you, who poured the pearls in the form of "talambrAlu" (sirulu dAlchina) on the head of the beautiful lady, who is like peerless (aridi) green stone (In mariages, the Bride and Groom repeatedly pour rice mixed with turmeric powder and vermillion to signify the beginning of their association). May there be auspicious prosperity to you, who possess the great wealth and who is the consort of Sri Mahalakshmi (goddess of wealth).
